Simple
The simple procedure involves applying a topical anesthetic to the patient’s gums to numb the area around the tooth. Dr. Greenberg then injects a local anesthetic so the patient won’t feel any pain during the extraction process.
Dr. Greenberg will use a tool known as an elevator to gently loosen and lift the tooth from the tip of the root. He will then use forceps to pull the tooth out of the socket.

Surgical
For teeth that are more difficult to pull using the simple procedure, surgery is necessary. The surgical procedure begins with a local anesthetic. But instead of a local anesthetic, Dr. Greenberg uses IV sedation so you will be unconscious and feel no pain.
Dr. Greenberg makes a small cut into the gum so he can access the tooth to pull it out. It may be necessary to remove bone from the jaw.

The procedure begins with x-rays and a 3D Cone Beam CT Scan to examine your surrounding teeth and underlying jaw bone. Local or general anesthesia will sedate you so you won’t feel any pain. Dr. Greenberg makes a small incision in the gum to expose the jawbone.
He will then drill a hole into the bone and place a titanium post, which screws into the bone and will fuse together over time. A bone graft and collagen membrane may be necessary if your jawbone is not strong enough for dental implants.
Once the post is set, Dr. Greenberg attaches the abutment to the top. A porcelain dental crown that looks and feels like your natural teeth is then placed on top of that to complete the same-day dental implant procedure. A few months are necessary for the area to heal, so patients should stick with a soft bland diet and keep the area clean.
How Long Do Tooth Extractions And Same-Day Dental Implants In Westchester County Take?
Dr. Greenberg can complete a tooth extraction procedure in under an hour. Of course, procedure length varies from patient to patient depending on how many teeth Dr. Greenberg needs to extract.
As for dental implants, a single implant can take around 30 minutes. Again, the length of the procedure depends on the number of implants you need. Multiple implants could take up to three hours.
